What working with me actually looks like
I know when you hear ‘marketing’, you feel a bit sick at the thought of pushy sales tactics. I know rural businesses and customers inside out, so I get it. Rural buyers make their purchasing decisions based on reputation, so that is the form of marketing I teach.
I am anti-AI-generated content marketing. I’m a little old-fashioned in my approach, and I will call you out if you give me something to proofread that obviously came from a bot. When it comes to connecting with potential customers, there is no replacement for your own voice. People buy from people that they know, like and trust.
Boundaries and sticking to your values are so important. I'll encourage you to share parts of your story and behind-the-scenes with your audience, but only what you're comfortable with. Your love of the one eight-foot tomato plant you’ve managed to grow after three years of trying, or your hatred of Birkenstock clogs, for example, is a brilliant way to spark an online connection. There's nothing like a 'me too!' moment. But I will never suggest you share more than surface details of your family life, however relatable it might be.
